They'd met at the park, where he'd been busking, doing some street magic. Well, nature magic, he supposed, in this setting. She had come wandering up the path, lost in thought, and had piqued his interest straight away.

She'd had the most wonderful eyes, ruby red, twirling, glittering, like a fire inside. "Hey, wanna see a card trick?" That always worked wonders to break the ice.

"Pick a card, any card. Don't show it to me, but remember which one you picked."

"Got one? Good. Now put it back. What's your name, by the way?"
"Olivia, what's yours?"
"Very nice to meet you, Olivia. I'm Ace."

"Would this happen to be your card?" She'd nodded, smiling at him. A mysterious smile. A smile that made him want her even more.
"King of Hearts. Were you thinking of me?"

He'd got up, put his cards away, and asked if she was going anywhere. No, just walking. He'd asked if he could accompany her. She'd smiled and invited him along.
As they were walking past a flowering bush, he'd secretly picked one and made it appear out of thin air. Say it with flowers -- isn't that what they tell you?

She'd asked him to put the flower in her hair, and he'd taken the opportunity for a good, long gaze into those mesmerizing eyes of hers. She must be an albino or something -- a really good-looking albino, he thought. Ace had counted his lucky stars. The universe was smiling on him today, and its smile was almost as perfect as hers.

They'd walked and talked for a long time, or no time at all. Ace wasn't really sure. He was pretty sure it didn't matter, though.

One thing had led to another, and then another, and that was only the beginning. One chance meeting that would change his understanding of this world forever. But that's a story for another time.
